About us

How it all started..

Sol Sister the Label is a result of a calling to create. Create space. As I’ve been traveling the world, I’ve met some of the most remarkable women – fearless, talented and incredibly successful. They were and are fantastic surfers, skateboarders, snowboarders, you name it… Do you know what else they had in common? They all stopped pursuing these hobbies and talents, as they never felt truly welcome by the community, never felt like they belong.

A year ago, when the first designs were born, I would tell you that Sol Sister the Label is a female surf brand. Today I know it’s a brand keeping female surfers in mind, inviting them to be their authentic self.

This one goes to the girls who put on their best dress and go get dirty rolling in the sand. The girls ripping in pink. The girls who know they belong. Anywhere.

Meet Lucie, the founder

Growing up in a landlocked country, I couldn’t have been farther away from the ocean. My only contact with surfing was a Roxy poster in the mall, yet somehow I knew at the core that surfing is my calling since I was a little girl. I would spend my teenage years saving up for that very first surf trip, wishing for a friend to share this experience with.

It was on the verge of my 22nd birthday, when I made it to the ocean for the very first time, and never stopped since. I would cry with the first wave taken, and I would cry harder opening that envelope with a note from my family, that my very first shortboard is being made in the Euroglass factory, an act my wonderful sister secretly orchestrated, knowing I keep doubting myself on whether it’s a thing I yet deserve.

Surfing has made my life richer in numerous ways. It brought me friendships for a lifetime. It brought me peace and patience. It brought me courage and drive in all my business endeavors. It brought me an ultimate acceptance of my body and myself.

Over the past decade, I’ve surfed and explored the world, striking a balance between a love for the simple life and unbridled hedonism, all in pursuit of finding that sweet spot. Sol Sister embodies everything that I am. It’s feminine and stylish, with a touch of class, all the while cherishing the childlike joy and fun that life has to offer. It’s authentic and fair. It takes you places. And I cannot wait to see where you’ll take us.

The making of..

In October 2022, I sat on the beach in Bali between surf sessions and heavy rains. The rainy season had arrived early that year. With my bikinis still damp, I hurried to the nearest store to grab a pencil and a sketchbook. That’s where I began my very first sketches. It wasn’t until my third sketchbook was full that I realized I was onto something.

Residing in Bali for most of the year, I was committed to giving back to the local community by keeping our production strictly in Bali. The island provides a rich array of local fabrics and talents, while ensuring the ethical production standards are met.

Our take on sustainability

We believe in producing quality products that stand the test of time. All our designs are produced in extremely limited batches, to eliminate overproduction and ensure that our customers get their hands on exclusive pieces. We source all our fabrics locally in Indonesia, which enables us to support the local communities and reduce emissions. If product design and local supply lets us, we are opting for natural and/or recycled fabrics.

Fabric cutouts from the production find new purposes, such as cushioning for various upholstered products.

All the packaging materials are built to be reused, repurposed and recycled. For individual tips, follow us on Instagram.

We would like to invite you to shop responsibly.
